As the firm’s design principal, E.J. oversees project design and direction. He practices with the aspiration that buildings can inform us about place and landscape. Believing that the best architecture is a response to site and time, he draws from experience that includes studying philosophy and American Studies at Colby College, a Master of Architecture from the University of Colorado, and years of building experience.
After graduating from Colby, E.J. worked in carpentry in New England, learning traditional building methods and finish carpentry. Inspired by a summer studio at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design, E.J. studied architecture at the University of Washington in Seattle, and earned his Masters from the University of Colorado in 1991. He was the recipient of the Alpha Ro Chi Medal for Design Excellence and the Emerging Impressions Award from the AIA.
As part of his practice, E.J. was a senior instructor at the College of Architecture and Planning at the University of Colorado from 1993-2005. He is still involved in the academic community, regularly participating as an invited design critic at the University of Colorado and other universities around the country. E.J. is an invited jury member on national and international design juries. He has presented the work of Arch11 at several universities and lectured at the Denver Art Museum. His work is published in a variety of academic and professional journals globally. Under his direction, Arch11 has earned twenty-four AIA design awards including firm of the year from the north Chapter AIA in 2009.
And in spite of it all, he maintains an obsessive interest in the meaningful detailing of building.
E.J. Meade is a registered architect in the State of Colorado and an active member of the American Institute of Architects.
Gilda Zaragoza likes to tear things down and build them back up. For a living. We’re talking about houses. Building. Buying. Selling. Dealing. Investing. The whole package. Gilda is fast becoming an influencer in the Denver Real Estate market and is developing an amazing team of individuals who share her enthusiastic entrepreneurial spirit and vision. Gilda didn’t set out to be in the Real Estate Industry. After graduating from New York University(NYU) she went to work in the world of finance for BlackRock. While she excelled in the Management Group working with International Institutional investors, her heart just wasn’t in it. But she did take her love for numbers with her when she left. Gilda wanted to be part of something more tangible, and she found her passion in Real Estate. She enrolled in the University of Denver(DU) for her graduate studies earning her MS in Real Estate and Construction Management. During her studies she did her first “scrape” – turning an old home into a magnificent, modern duplex and hasn’t looked back since. She has created a niche for Invalesco in the Denver market as a “Development and Realty Boutique.” Gilda is on the founding board of the Young Leaders Council of the Metro Denver Home Building Association. She is also a Certified New Homes Sales Professional.
